T20 Blast is a fast, fun, modified version of cricket that’s designed to engage new players to the game; and will hit a club near you later next month.

The eight-a-side version allows for more participation with more gaps in the field, more opportunities to field and a lot more higher scoring cricket games.

And instead of waiting around to bat, the batting team is upskilled by a qualified coach in the skills zone.

The program will be running for eight consecutive weeks starting Wednesday, February 22 until April 12 from 5.30-7pm at Marconi Oval.

It costs $99 to register which includes a cap, shirt and drawstring bag as well as all the equipment.

A Cricket NSW spokesman said the organisation was excited to introduce this fun game for children in the Fairfield region, to introduce them to the joys and fun of cricket.

“T20 Blast is a fantastic program that attracts new participants to the game of cricket through the fun and exciting atmosphere mirroring the Big Bash League,” the spokesman said.

Brett Bostock, from Wetherill Park Cricket Club, said he was excited to get his players involved in the newly formatted game designed especially for them.

“This is a great program to get kids involved in cricket, teach them the basics, make new friends and have 90 minutes of fun doing it,” he said.

“And because it’s based on the T20 format something’s always happening.”
