THE Cabramatta Nines will be adding six new teams to the already impressive line-up of countries competing at this Saturday’s tournament at Cabramatta Leagues Club.

Teams representing South America, the Middle East and Europe will battle it out for the coveted shield at the New Era Stadium.

With 32 teams already confirmed, Cabramatta Leagues Club football administrator Bob Erskine said it was set to become the ultimate dream day for a rugby league fan.

“It’s our biggest day of the year,” he said.

“It’s a full day for any spectator to enjoy with games non-stop all day.”

With an opportunity for teams to win a grand total of $15,000 in prize money, Erskine said the teams kept coming back every year to compete.

“This is our 14th year of the tournament, so as long as the teams keep coming back we’ll keep hosting it,” he said.

The day’s talent will come from all corners of the world, including teams from El Salvador, Malta, Ireland, Canada, South Africa, Niue, Chile, Greek Australia and Thailand.

Serbia is one of the newly represented nations, and the tournament will be used as a vital part of the nation’s progress and path to the 2017 Rugby League World Cup qualification matches later in the year.

Regional teams with combined nations also aim to set the tournament alight, such as Combined Eastern Europe, Latin Heat, Amerika Samoa and the Ozzy Cooks.

Domestic teams from various NSW Rugby League competitions and interstate teams are also participating.

These include two Narellan teams, Cabramatta, Concord-Burwood, Kingsgrove, North Queensland and Western Suburbs.

St Marys is one of the successful domestic teams, and the tournament will act as their first competitive pre-season outing before hitting the new season of the Ron Massey Cup and Sydney Shield competitions.

A physical disability rugby league demonstration game will also take place on Field 1 at 4.40pm.

The tournament kicks off at 9.20am, featuring 76 fast-paced games played over three fields.

The Cup Final will be at 7pm.

Tickets: $5 adults, children under 12 free.
