Southwest Sydney ice supply chain smashed by drug squad

THREE men have been charged following an extensive investigation into drug supply in southwest Sydney with police saying they seized 5kg of ice with an estimated street value of $5 million in six raids in five suburbs.

THREE men have been charged following an extensive investigation into drug supply in southwest Sydney with police saying they seized 5kg of ice with an estimated street value of $5 million in six raids in five suburbs.

Police raided six homes in Cabramatta, Cabramatta West, Canley Heights, Clemton Park and Edensor Park and allegedly seized two pistols, a sum of cash, 5kg of methylamphetamine and 100 items of drug paraphernalia.

Two men aged 30 and 43 were arrested in a Campsie carpark on Charlotte St at 4pm on Thursday.

The 30-year-old man was charged at Campsie police station with participating in a criminal group, five counts of dealing with the proceeds of crime, three counts of having a large commercial supply of a prohibited drug, two counts of unauthorised pistol possession and possessing or using a weapon without a permit.

The 43-year-old man was also charged at Campsie police station with participating in a criminal group and large commercial prohibited drug supply.

They were refused bail to appear at Burwood Local Court on August 15.

A 43-year-old man was later arrested at a St Johns Park home and charged at Fairfield police station with prohibited drug supply and possession.

He was granted bail to appear at Fairfield Local Court on July 23.

Police said they expect to make further arrests.

The Drug and Firearm Squad established Strike Force Cower in August 2016 to investigate the production and supply of methylamphetamine.
