THE owners of Bonnyrigg Plaza are planning a revitalisation of the ageing shopping complex.
Centre manager Helen Koppman announced the “exciting” plans last week.
The revitalisation project will include a reconfiguration of the former IGA tenancy and surrounding area, to create a new food court and fresh food precinct.
Plans also include an inviting alfresco dining area.
Ms Koppman said the centre, in Bonnyrigg Ave, had recently celebrated its 30th birthday.
It had become an integral part of the Bonnyrigg identity and a meeting point for local residents, she said.
“We are excited to bring to Bonnyrigg an upgraded and revitalised shopping centre that will offer the local community more choice for dining, fresh food and fashion,” Ms Koppman said.
In addition to 25 refurbished and new tenancies, there will be new rest rooms and a parent’s room, along with signage upgrades featuring new branding.
Work on the redevelopment has now started.
It is expected to take 12 months to complete and the centre will remain open for trade throughout.
Bonnyrigg Plaza features Woolworths, Big W and 45 speciality stores, and has ample free parking.
