My Kitchen Rules winners Tasia and Gracia Seger will bring the heat – and plenty of chilli – to Cabramatta Moon Festival this September with a cooking demonstration.
The festival marks the Indonesian born, Melbourne-based sisters’ first trip to Cabramatta.
“People talk about the amazing food at the Moon Festival so hopefully Tasia and I will get to try some of it,” Gracia said.
While the pair dubbed the Spice Sisters have cooked before a television audience of nearly 2 million nationwide, September 4 will mark the second time they have held a large-scale cooking demonstrating live.
“Every time we cook in front of people Gracia and I get very nervous. It’s going to be a first for everything,” Tasia said.
The duo will prepare two dishes that draw on their rich Indonesian heritage.
“Gracia’s favourite dish is noodles so we’re making one of her favourites, fried noodles. There’s going to be an omelette on top of it,” Tasia said.
“The other one we’re making is prawn toast with a homemade sweet chilli sauce.”
The sisters said they always prepare food in large quantities and hope there will be audience taste-tests on the day.
Since their MKR win in April, the duo visited Indonesia for a holiday as well as some recipe hunting.
“We really want to release a cookbook. We were collecting recipes and going back to our grandma and letting her teach us some more traditional family recipes,” Tasia said.
They will also launch a website in the near future.
When asked what three spices they’d need if stranded on a deserted island, the Spice Sisters lived up to their name.
“Chilli,” Tasia said without hesitation, while Gracia added sugar and nutmeg to the mix.
