A convicted drug dealer has landed herself in hot water again after she was caught red-handed with a meth-filled balloon inside her pants while visiting her partner at a western Sydney jail.

Marram Mekhael, 25, appeared before Fairfield Local Court on Tuesday on charges of attempting to bring a prohibited drug into a place of detention after she was caught with 3.03g of ice at Parklea Correctional Centre on July 5.

She has previously entered a plea of guilty to the charge.

Agreed facts state while Mekhael was waiting in line to visit her partner after passing the scanners, she walked past the correctional officer with a sniffer dog which “gave an indication Mekhael had drugs in her possession”.

The officer told Mekhael to follow him to another area as she “denied having possession of anything”.

Once police arrived, Mekhael admitted she was given the balloon by a ‘friend’ and was told it was tobacco to give to her partner.

“Mekhael confirmed she was aware that it was an offence to bring tobacco into a place of detention and did not provide any reasoning as to why she attempted to do so,” the facts state.

Mekhael’s lawyer requested for the matter to be adjourned to investigate if a residential rehabilitation clinic was a sentencing option for his client.

Magistrate Brett Shields adjourned the matter and a separate charge of driving while disqualified for November 21.

Mekhael was convicted and sentenced to 22 months of imprisonment for drug supply and knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime in June 2021.
