Gymnasts tip the top of the ladder for Australia’s best of the best

This troupe of talented girls tipped the best of the best in the country at the Aerobic Gymnastics Australian National Championships

Sydney West Gym Team all competed in aerial display at the national championships, placing 3rd in the country.

This troupe of talented girls have tipped the best of the best in the country at the Aerobic Gymnastics Australian National Championships.

The Sydney West Gymsports club placed 3rd overall in Australia with only 12 girls competing compared to other clubs who had at least 25 competitors.

“We have had amazing results this year, attaining a total of 88 places in various competitions,” said coach Patsy Tatian.

After gaining the scores needed at state trial competitions, the team qualified to compete at the Aerobic Gymnastics NSW State Championships in July and took out 15 gold medals, six silver and four bronze medals.

They then went on to represent NSW at the Aerobic Gymnastics Australian National Championships in Bendigo on September 19.

Ms Tatian said the girls were very excited about representing NSW at the National Championships.

“For most of them it was their first time,” she said.

“The girls were amazing and performed wonderful routines.”

The team brought home 10 gold, three silver medals and four bronze medals,

“Two of our girls competed to such a high standard they exceeded the qualifying score to be eligible for the Aerobic Gymnastics Australian National Squad and were recently announced as selected,” Ms Tatian.

“This was an amazing achievement as the girls were competing against clubs that had 25-30 girls competing.”

The team is the Advance Junior Sports Star nominee in the Team Spirit category.
