A GALLIVANTING goat with the munchies wound up high and dry last week when she got stuck on a southwest Sydney rooftop.
Whipper regularly climbs onto her neighbours’ roof in Smithfield because there is vegetation there she likes to eat.
However, Smithfield firefighters received a bizarre call-out when the gutsy goat got stuck on the roof at night.
Firefighters were assured the intrepid pet would not bite and she was only stranded for 15 or 20 minutes until she was finally rescued.
Fire & Rescue superintendent Norman Buckley said Smithfield firefighters regularly rescued cats, dogs and possums that get stuck in wall cavities.
“All Fire & Rescue units are trained and equipped in animal rescues from large horses and cows to domestic pets,” Supt Buckley said.
“But it would definitely rank as one of the oddest rescues, next to the water buffaloes Newtown firefighters rescued one day on King St.”
Whipper popped in to visit her heroes at the station this morning.
