LOVERS of Nutella will unite around the world on Sunday, February 5 to celebrate the iconic hazelnut spread.
Among those Nutella nutters are the staff at What The Fudge in Cabramatta, who offer a number of decadent desserts.
Managing director and owner Andrew Duong said the cafe will offer a World Nutella Day special that includes waffles with Belgian chocolate and Nutella, strawberries, banana and marshmallow s’mores— blowtorched to crisp perfection.
“We’re all about everything chocolately and Nutella and Golden Gaytimes,” Duong said.
“We’ve been here three years and we’re still going strong.”
Among the other Nutella creations on offer are deep fried Golden Gaytime ice-creams, Nutella and Ferrero Roche frappe, and deep fried Nutella ice cream.
Duong said he “can’t even keep count” of how many tubs of Nutella the cafe went through each week.
He also laughs when asked how he and his staff stay in shape while working alongside such temptations. “Chocolate goes to the heart,” he justified.
Business is booming for the Cabramatta cafe.“We get people from all walks of life and all over Sydney — even from all over Australia,” Duong said.
Cabramatta offers established pho and banh mi spots plus a vibrant cafe and dessert scene.
“The area is very known for our food, and there’s always room for dessert,” Duong insisted.
“Noodle House is a very busy restaurant and we’re right next to them, so a lot of people come for dessert after.”
This year marks the 10th anniversary of World Nutella Day, which started in 2007 by blogger and Nutella lover Sara Rosso.
