The days of waiting in line for a decent haircut are over thanks to a revolutionary mobile barber that drives directly to your door.
Wakeley resident Nina Antranik wanted to do something different with her career — and now time-poor clients are reaping all the benefits.
The Barber Pad’s purpose-built van sports edgy artwork and lavish furnishings for an utterly unique styling experience without the usual inconvenience.
“I can see the frustration on people’s faces when they have to wait over an hour for a haircut,” Ms Antranik said.
“There are also a lot of people who can’t get to the shops because they may work late, or have a disability of some sort — convenience is what it’s all about.”
More than anything, clients love that they don’t have to leave their house to get their hair done.
“It saves them money and time,” Ms Antranik said.
“If they have children I think it is so much less stressful for them not having to drag the kids to a shopping centre for a haircut.”
Ms Antranik has been cutting hair since she left school in Year 10 at the age of 16.
She will go under the clippers herself later this month when she shaves her head for a cure.
“Cancer has been a big thing in my family and the cause is close to home,” Ms Antranik said.
“I also feel so blessed with the new business and the support I have been receiving from the community so I really want to do something to give back to those in need.”
Ms Antranik also wants to show people it’s okay to look different.
Should women be able to get haircuts at the barber?
“Society is brainwashed to think you must look a certain way to be accepted,” she said.
“I want to motivate people to have the courage to do something crazy once in a while to help others and not worry about what other people think — and the money I raise will help people that are struggling.”
