Aquatopia upgrade adds $3.1m wave pool and faux beach
Western Sydney water fun lovers are in for a treat this summer after Aquatopia announced a multimillion-dollar upgrade to its Fairfield park. It will include a wave park - and that’s just the start.

The Aquatopia water park at Prairiewood Leisure Centre will be upgraded with a wave pool and faux beach after securing $3.1m in funding from Fairfield City Council.
“I can’t wait to reveal the next exciting chapter to local families in the coming months,” Fairfield Mayor Frank Carbone said.
“It fills me with great joy when I visit Aquatopia during the warmer months and see so many happy, smiling faces and children enjoying fun outdoor activities.”
Aquatopia converts into Icetopia during winter, but the new wave pool, artificial beach and cabanas will be available all year round.
Council did not reveal if the wave pool will be ready by the end of the year.
The new attraction comes after $6.7m was invested in two rides last year.
These include a 20-metre, six lane water slide with a three-lane racing ridge, a high-speed free fall and a “rocket” drop, and the only Fishpipe in NSW, a huge water filled ball that rolls swimmers around as though they’re in a washing machine.
Patronage at Aquatopia has steadily increased since its opening in 2016. Last Summer 78,269 people walked through the water park’s turnstiles, a rise from about 60,000 compared to the same period a year earlier.
Tickets for the Prairiewood water park undercut those of Raging Waters (formerly Wet n Wild) in nearby Prospect. A family of four can visit Aquatopia ($64) for less than the general admission of one adult at Raging Waters ($66).
Raging Waters is a larger water park, but Aquatopia has been growing. The new attraction join a line up of three ‘giant’ slides, an adventure water tower with 79 elements, a surf ride and a toddler play area.
The Prairiewood water park is preparing for its biggest season to date. It’ll reopen on weekends between September 21 and April 28, and every day during the school holidays – other than Christmas.
