A $750,000 plan to see the proposed construction of a new fire station in the state’s west has been revealed.
Rural Fire Service of NSW submitted a development application for a new rural fire station at a vacant lot on Twelve Mile Rd, Wuuluman, near Wellington, to Dubbo Regional Council earlier this week, adding support in infrastructure to emergency services.
A planner for the project said the building is proposed to be central on the site with access to both cars and trucks, providing seven parking spaces, including one accessibility parking space.
“It is in the public interest that emergency services are well equipped with supporting infrastructure to fulfil their role,” the planner said.
“In this regard the proposal is a very important in terms of providing additional resilience and security to the community.”
The planner said the NSW RFS is undertaking a program of station upgrades across NSW which includes the construction of new facilities.
The planner stated the facility will use “minimal” lighting by only using security lights to protect the Siding Springs Observatory, which is 18km from the proposed site.
“In the context of the site, the cumulative impact would be very minor,” the planner said.
