Wilcannia: Man dies, Barrier Hwy closed in major truck collision
A man has died and a highway has been closed after a major truck and car collision in a remote NSW outback township.

A man has died and a highway has been closed after a major truck and car collision in a remote NSW outback township.
Emergency services were called to the scene at Barrier Hwy, 2km southeast of Wilcannia about 8.45am, following reports of a serious collision.
The car’s driver – a man in his 30s – died at the scene.
The truck driver – a 25-year-old man – was taken to Wilcannia Hospital for mandatory testing.
Barrister Police District officers have since launched an investigation and established a crime scene.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
According to Live Traffic NSW, the Barrier Hwy remains closed in each direction, with drivers being urged to avoid the area.
