Wellington: A 15-year-old boy has been charged in for alleged crowbar threats, break ins and assaulting a police officer

A 15-year-old boy who allegedly threatened residents of a home he broke into with a crowbar and assaulted police has been arrested in the state’s central west. Here’s the latest.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with break in and assault offences after he allegedly threatened residents with a crowbar in the state’s central west on Monday morning.

Orana Mid-Western Police District officers were called to a home in Wellington, about 50km southeast of Dubbo, about 2am on Monday, after reports a youth had attempted to break in.

Officers arrived and were told a boy – who was allegedly carrying a crowbar – had attempted to break into a home before threatening residents, breaking a window and leaving.

Police established a crime scene and launched an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 15-year-old boy about 9.15am on Monday and took him to Wellington police station.

Police claim that while in custody, the youth assaulted an officer and damaged the police station.

No police were injured during the incident.

The boy was taken to Dubbo police station and charged with two counts of aggravated break and enter to commit a serious indictable offence while armed and entering a building with intention to commit an indictable offence.

He was also charged with two counts of damaging property, being armed with intention to commit an indictable offence, demand property with intention to steal and assaulting an officer.

He was refused bail to appear in a children’s court on Tuesday.
