Virginia McMahon: Dubbo woman faces court after allegedly assaulting a pilot at Dubbo Airport

A Dubbo woman who allegedly assaulted the pilot of a plane she had boarded has appeared for the first time in court.

A Dubbo woman who allegedly assaulted the pilot of a plane she had boarded has faced court.

Virginia McMahon, 45, appeared in Dubbo Local Court on January 25 charged with common assault, assaulting a crew member of a Division 3 aircraft and interfering with duties, and stalk and intimidation intending to cause physical harm or mental harm.

The incident occurred between 1.55pm and 2.05pm on January 24 after Ms McMahon allegedly assaulted a pilot on the aircraft she had boarded.

Charge sheets tendered to the court state Ms McMahon allegedly assaulted a pilot at Dubbo Airport, and threatened the pilot with violence and intimidation causing an interference with their duties.

The woman appeared at Dubbo Local Court.

Ms McMahon’s solicitor Carmen Just told the court her alleged actions were “unusual” and “out of character”.

“This is clearly a serious charge,” Ms Just said.

Magistrate Mal Macpherson warned Ms McMahon that the alleged behaviour was of a “serious nature”.

Ms McMahon did not enter a plea to the charges, however was granted bail with conditions including not entering any international airport or other point of departure from Australia, not to go near any prosecution witness, to live in Dubbo, and not consume drugs or alcohol unless prescribed by a doctor.

The matter will return to Dubbo Local Court on March 23.
