A grieving father who lost his son in a fatal car crash three years ago has shared his concern with police investigations, detailing he has more questions than answers.
Peter Miller’s son Tim Miller, 36, and granddaughter aged six, where involved in a tragic collision between a truck and a ute, killing Tim about 6.10pm on July 10, 2020, at the intersection of the Golden Hwy and Ballimore Rd.
Mr Miller is seeking justice – once again calling for a coronial review after his pleas were rejected in 2021.
“There are too many unanswered questions of what happened that night ... I want to bring some attention to it and try and find the answers to those questions,” Mr Miller told The Dubbo News.
Mr Miller believes police “blamed” Tim within seconds after arriving at the scene as his vehicle had several bottles of beer in the back seat.
His solicitor, Luke Clarke, said the opinion led to the “premature” decision to not invite the NSW Police Crash Investigation to attend the scene.
He told The Dubbo News the driver continues to work in the industry.
Mr Miller said he was also concerned about the “casualness” and “lack of consistencies” between police and the truck driver’s statements, as police state the driver began work at 6.15am and had a 15-minute rest break from 6.30am while the driver stated he began work at 6.30am. No criminal charges were laid in relation to the crash.
“There are too many gaps in evidence, and we want answers... I’ve been relentless for them every week for the past three years,” he urged.
NSW Police declined to comment as a brief has been prepared for the Coroner.
