Fire and Rescue NSW crews extinguished an intense fire around 3.15am on Saturday at a public housing property on Temoin St, Narromine.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found the property engulfed in flames.

WALGETT

A 35-year-old P1 provisional driver was issued multiple infringement notices and incurred 14 demerit points after he was seen using his mobile phone as a speedometer while driving a vehicle which has not been registered for 13 years.

Walgett Highway Patrol Officers observed a Holden sedan on the Kamilaroi Highway in Wee Waa without number plates which initiated them to stop the vehicle about 10.45am on Saturday.

Officers spoke with the Walgett man and learned that the vehicle’s instrument cluster was faulty, leading him to use his mobile phone as a substitute speedometer.

Further investigation revealed the vehicle had not been registered since 2011, the driver’s licence had also been suspended and three seatbelts, including the driver’s, were faulty and inoperative.

The driver was issued multiple infringement notices totalling $4,230 and incurred 14 demerit points.

He was also issued a court attendance notice to appear before Wee Waa Local Court in relation to driving while suspended.
