Strike Force Dozer: Three-day operation on Narromine, Gilgandra, Coonamble, Baradine, and Kenebri

Police have charged two men and seized firearms, ammunition, and prohibited drugs during a three-day operation in the state’s west. Here’s the latest.

Two men, aged 23 and 41, have been arrested following an operation targeting illegal possession of firearms and drugs in the state’s central west.

The Rural Crime Prevention Team operated Strike Force Dozer between Friday, October 13 to Sunday, October 15, with assistance from the state’s crime command’s drug and firearms squad, Orana Mid-Western Police District and the Western Region Operational Support group.

Over the three-day operation, officers executed six Firearm Prohibition Order compliance checks and three search warrants across Narromine, Gilgandra, Coonamble, Baradine, and Kenebri.

Police seized three firearms, a large quantity of ammunition, and a small quantity of prohibited drugs.

In Gilgandra, police arrested and charged a 23-year-old man for possessing ammunition without holding a licence, possessing a prohibited firearm and possessing drugs.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear before Gilgandra Local Court on November 6.

Police arrested and charged a 41-year-old man at Coonabarabran Police Station with nine offences, including acquiring a pistol, three counts of supplying prohibited drugs and dealing with proceeds of crime before after seizing a firearm, ammunition and drugs.

He was refused bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court on November 2.
