A man in his 20s who was allegedly wanted by police for breaching bail conditions, punched a police officer multiple times in the head before fleeing the scene.

Steven John Adams, 28, attended Dubbo Local Court in custody on Monday pleading guilty to assaulting and resisting a police officer in duty.

Just after 9am on Monday, Orana Mid-Western Police District officers were attending a business on Minore Rd, Dubbo, when they sighted the offender who was allegedly wanted by police for breaching bail conditions.

After speaking with Adams, police attempted to arrest him before he punched a constable “multiple times in the head and fled on foot”.

A NSW Police statement revealed that after the short foot pursuit, police located Adams on North St, where he was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station.

Adams did not apply for bail - he will reappear on August 25 for sentencing.
