Pone Nau: St Marys man charged over Dubbo shooting, home invasion

A man arrested in a western Sydney carpark has fronted court over his alleged role in a shooting 350km away after police raids allegedly uncovered a stolen Mercedes and drugs.

A St Marys man will be kept in custody and transported to Dubbo to front court over his alleged involvement in a shooting and home invasion in regional NSW.

Pone Nau, 26, appeared briefly in Mt Druitt Local Court on Thursday after he was arrested in the carpark of a licensed premises on Popondetta Rd at Emerton.

Police allege Mr Nau was one of two men involved in an alleged shooting and home invasion on Baird Street at Dubbo about 11pm Tuesday.

According to police, a 34-year-old man was found inside the home with a gunshot wound to his leg, wound to his face and laceration to his arms.

Police were told two unknown people wearing face coverings entered the home and assaulted the man before they fled the scene.

The man was taken to Dubbo Base Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Mr Nau was arrested about 6pm Wednesday and he was charged with aggravated break and enter, commit serious indictable offence-wound, wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, discharge firearm intend to cause grievous bodily harm, and possess ammunition without holding licence, permit or authority.

In court Mr Nau entered no pleas and Magistrate Robyn Richardson refused bail for him to be transported back to Dubbo to face court there on November 29.

A short time after Mr Nau’s arrest police attached to the Raptor Squad, set up to target outlaw motorcycle gangs and criminal associates, raided homes in North St Marys and Colyton.

Cannabis, 50 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine, mobile phones, ammunition and a stolen Mercedes were allegedly discovered during the raids.

A third raid was conducted at a home in Cambridge Park, where cash and other items relevant to the investigation were allegedly seized.

The police investigation into the shooting and home invasion is continuing.
