A bigger sushi shop, new consultation rooms for pharmacy patients and a health food store featuring an accredited naturopath will open in October at Dubbo’s Orana Mall.
The changes come as the mall records some of its strongest foot traffic numbers in recent years, with Orana Mall centre manager James Wall reporting that in July 350,000 shopping trips were taken.
“In July I saw the biggest foot traffic in the centre in seven years, figures have gone through the roof,” he said.
“There’s fashion retailers here that are well over 100 per cent growth, which is massive.”
Mr Wall believes higher government payments and improved drought conditions helped achieve those results and have given businesses at the mall the confidence to expand.
“Sushi Haru is relocating to a bigger building where Yogurtland was, it’ll be an impressive shop once it’s done,” he said.
“We expect an opening around mid-October.”
The Orana Mall Pharmacy is another business expanding to create new consultation rooms where the Experimac store was previously located.
Owner Lisa Gibson said the expanded pharmacy would open after the October long weekend.
“We’ve got four new consult rooms, one for sleep apnoea, the other will focus on diabetes education, the third room will be our vaccination room and in the fourth room we’re looking at having men’s and women’s health and professional services,” she said.
“With the ageing population we do find that there’ll probably be more of those types of conditions diagnosed in the next few years and we need space to offer support.”
Along with changes to the pharmacy and sushi shop, Mr Wall said a new health shop will open in early October to replace the recently closed Go Vita.
“There’s an accredited naturopath going into that shop as well,” he said.
