Two youths have been arrested following an alleged break, enter and steal in the state’s central west earlier this week.
Operational Regional Mongoose is high-visibility police operation focusing on serious property-related crime predominantly by young offenders.
Between 3am and 6am on January 2, entry was allegedly forced into a home on Franklin Rd, Orange, where a bag and a Kia Sportage were stolen.
The Kia was located abandoned about 9.40am on Tobruk Ave and was seized for forensic examination.
Police received a report of keys and a Volvo allegedly stolen from change rooms at a business on Hill St, Orange, about 12.50pm on the same day.
Police were patrolling South Terrace, Orange, about 1.15pm, and spoke to a 14-year-old boy after he was seen throwing airpods on the ground – police allege they were stolen from the Volvo.
Police found fuel cards belonging to a business in his possession.
The boy was arrested and taken to Orange Police Station and will be dealt with under young offenders act.
The Volvo was located abandoned on Lone Pine Ave, Orange, and was seized for forensic examination about 3.45pm.
Following inquiries, police attended a home in Orange and arrested a 17-year-old boy about 9am on January 30.
He was taken to Orange Police Station and charged with stealing a motor vehicle, driving while never obtaining a licence, exceeding speed and a breach of bail.
The boy was refused bail to appear at a children’s court on January 31.
