Operation Boa: Thomas Hill, 50, has been charged with various firearm offences following Dubbo arrest

A man is behind bars on remand after police allegedly seized multiple knives, handcuffs, rifles and drugs from his central west home. Here’s the latest.

Police have allegedly seized multiple rifles, shortened firearms, gel blasters, knives and other weapons from a property in the state’s central west before arresting and charging a man.

Orana Mid-Western Police District officers executed a search of a property on Baird Dr, Dubbo, on January 4, in relation to Operation Boa, following reports a man had multiple weapons in his possession.

Police allegedly seized four rifles, three shortened firearms, two gel blasters, multiple knives, an air rifle, a taser, ammunition, other weapons and drugs from the home.

Police will allege three of the firearms recovered were stolen from break and enter in Dunedoo in February last year.

Dubbo man Thomas James Hill was charged with three counts of using a stolen firearm, three counts of possessing a shortened firearm, four counts of possessing an unregistered firearm (not a pistol) and one count of possessing a firearm (pistol).

The 50-year-old is also facing charges of acquiring a firearm, possessing an unauthorised firearm, possessing ammunition without holding a license, using a weapon contrary to a prohibition order, two counts of possessing a weapon without a permit, possessing prohibited drugs, and knowingly dealing with proceeds of crime.

Hill has made no application for bail and was formally refused.

He is to return to Dubbo Local Court on January 12.
