New column will provide fresh insight on Dubbo weather and climate using data from the Bureau of Meteorology

A new weekly series will provide weather forecasts, climate graphics and insights from the Dubbo community.

From scorching summer heat to flooding rains, Dubbo‘s weather and climate has always been a hot topic of conversation and residents are keen to know what’s on the horizon for their community.

To keep you informed about your local changing weather patterns, News Corp is teaming up with Monash University and Dr Sarah Perkins-Kirkpatrick for a weekly column about Dubbo‘s weather and climate.

This new column will source data from the Dubbo Airport weather station to provide forecasts, graphics and long term temperature and rainfall information.

It will also feature people in your community discussing their experiences of how weather and climate influence life and work.

Doctors, emergency service workers, local business owners and residents will all contribute their unique perspective.

Dr Sarah Perkins-Kirkpatrick is a climate scientist at the University of New South Wales.

“In this series, we'll give readers accurate information on changes in Dubbo’s weather and climate,” she said.

“They will be able to see for themselves how recent extreme events compare to Dubbo‘s long-term background climate.”
