Narromine: 28-year-old man enters plea for traffic and domestic violence related offences

A man in the state’s west has admitted to driving dangerously while he had a five-year-old child in the back seat while denying other charges. Here’s the latest.

A man has pleaded guilty to driving dangerously while having an unrestrained five-year-old boy in the back seat through the streets of a regional town in the state’s west.

The 28-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in Dubbo Local Court via an audiovisual link, pleading guilty to six charges.

He admitted to driving dangerously during a police pursuit, having an unrestrained child in the car, one count of predatory driving, assaulting and hindering a police officer in execution of duty.

He has also pleaded guilty to an additional charge of using an offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention.

The accused has pleaded not guilty to two counts of domestic violence related stalking and intimidation and one count of predatory driving.

Orana Mid-Western Police District officers were called before 5pm on Sunday after concerns for the welfare of a woman seen on the side of the road near Narromine.

The man was driving a station wagon, which was towing a trailer, allegedly towards the police on Warren Rd, forcing them to take “evasive action”.

In a NSW Police statement, it is alleged the man almost hit a pedestrian trying to cross Dandaloo St.

When police stopped the vehicle on McGrane Way, a five-year-old boy was found in the rear passenger seat.

The man has not made an application for bail.

He will return to court via an audiovisual link on September 7.
