Mudgee: 45yo man has been charged for rural property theft

Police have charged a man with five offences after he allegedly broke into a rural property, stealing a Toyota Hilux utility with some tools earlier this month in the state’s west.

About 4am on May 6, a 45-year-old man broke into a home on Barigan Rd, Barigan and stole a utility, tools, a block splitter and 44-gallon drums of fuel.

Rural Crime Prevention Team officers in Mudgee launched inquiries into the break in.

Police attended a home on Wilbetree Rd, Mudgee, around 9.45am on Monday and arrested a 45-year-old man.

The man was taken to Mudgee Police Station and charged with aggravated break and entering, steal property in dwelling valued more than $5000, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, receive property theft and have goods in personal custody which are suspected of being stolen.

He was refused bail and appeared at Mudgee Local Court where he was given conditional bail to appear at the same court on August 1.
