A woman has been charged after allegedly slamming her car into a police officer during a dramatic incident in the state’s north.
Police were called to a Sullivan Pl, Moree, home about midday on Tuesday, following reports of a dispute.
While officers spoke with a 42-year-old woman at the scene, another woman – aged 43 and known to the younger woman – allegedly arrived in a vehicle and accelerated toward two parked police cars.
When officers tried to intervene, the woman allegedly ignored them and struck a 34-year-old male officer with her vehicle, causing bruising and swelling to his right leg.
A 41-year-old man and a two-year-old child were in the vehicle at the time.
Police will allege the woman then made no attempt to stop or help before parking in a nearby driveway.
She was arrested shortly after and taken to Moree Police Station, where she was charged with three counts of intimidating a police officer, assaulting police and causing actual bodily harm, menacing driving, fail to stop and assist after impact, and driving with a suspended licence.
The woman was refused bail and fronted Armidale Local Court on Wednesday.
She remains in custody and is due to appear before Moree Local Court on Monday, April 28.
