The identity of a western region police officer, who is charged with two counts of using a carriage service to solicit child abuse material, can be revealed.

Senior constable Mitchell James Maxwell Lucock, 37, was arrested and charged on November 20, 2023, following a nine-month investigation by the Australian Federal Police and NSW Police Force’s Professional Standards Command.

In February last year, both agencies commenced an investigation into an incident involving a serving police officer in the western region.

Lucock, from Sutherland Shire, was granted conditional bail before Dubbo Local Court last year.

He is excused from appearing at his next mention on March 21.

His employment has been suspended without pay.
