A Dubbo man who threw at glass bottle at his pregnant partner’s windscreen after an intense argument has been convicted, a court has heard.
Mark Manning appeared in Dubbo Local Court, pleading guilty to destroy or damaging property and contravening an AVO after a night out at a local pub.
The incident occurred between 1am to 1.10am in December last year, after Mr Manning “shattered” a portion of his partner’s windscreen.
Agreed facts tendered to the court revealed Mr Manning and his partner have been in an intimate relationship for almost two years.
On December 4, documents state the victim picked up Mr Manning from the pub when an argument erupted.
When the couple arrived at their residence, the victim told Mr Manning she “didn’t want him at the house if he was going to argue with her” so she drove him to his grandmother’s house.
According to the facts, Mr Manning and his partner “continued to argue” when she told him to “get out the vehicle”.
The victim started to record the interaction on her mobile phone when the defendant “refused” to exit the vehicle.
When he excited the vehicle, he proceeded to throw a glass bottle at her windscreen which shattered a portion of it.
“The bottle exploded on impact,” the statement said.
When police attended the scene, they noticed Mr Manning had “consumed a considerable amount of intoxicating liquor”.
Mr Manning is currently completing domestic violence and alcohol abuse related programs to assist with his rehabilitation.
Magistrate Gary Wilson advised Mr Manning to not be in the victim’s company for at least 12 hours after consuming alcohol or taking illicit drugs.
Mr Manning is required to participate in drug and alcohol counselling as part of his sentence.
Magistrate Wilson convicted and sentenced Mr Manning to a Community Correction Order for a period of 18 months to commence on 15 February 2023 and expiring on 14 August 2024.
