Lloyd Ferguson: Wellington Solar Farm worker pleads guilty to assault
A drunken, uncooperative and belligerent Wellington Solar Farm worker tried to pull a taxi driver out of his vehicle when he asked him a simple question.

A Randwick man who assaulted a Dubbo taxi driver after he was asked for his drop-off point has been spared a conviction in court.
After a night out at the Pastoral Hotel, Lloyd Ferguson, 29, got into the back of a taxi and told the driver to “get f*****” when he was asked for his desired destination.
When the taxi driver told Ferguson to get out, he exited the taxi and opened the driver’s door.
Ferguson grabbed the driver and tried to pull him out of the taxi.
A security guard had to intervene before Ferguson let go of the taxi driver.
When police caught up with a drunken Ferguson officers observed him to be “belligerent and uncooperative”.
In Dubbo Local Court he pleaded guilty to one count of common assault.
Ferguson’s lawyer David Pheeney told the court his client was sorry and regretted his behaviour.
Mr Pheeney said Ferguson was working on construction of the Wellington Solar Farm and had come to Australia from Scotland.
A conviction would jeopardise Ferguson’s chance of securing citizenship.
Magistrate Theresa Hamilton accepted Ferguson had no prior conviction and was a hard worker.
“The incident, it appears, was relatively short in duration and obviously happened on the spur of the moment,” she said.
“It was a taxi driver and they’re entitled to be protected from people who’ve had a few drinks and start acting up.”
Magistrate Hamilton handed Ferguson a 12-month conditional release order and did not record a conviction.
