Fatal car crash on Castlereagh Hwy, Ilford

Emergency services remain on the scene of a fatal two-car crash on a country highway in the state’s west, with reports four people have been injured and one dead.

Emergency services remain on scene of a fatal two vehicle crash in the state’s west this morning.

About 6.30am on Thursday, emergency services were called to Castlereagh Highway, 1km south of Razorback Rd, Ilford, after reports of a two-vehicle crash.

Officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District remain on scene, along with NSW Ambulance paramedics, who are treating two women and two men.

A fifth person – a man yet to be formally identified – has tragically been confirmed dead at the scene.

A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash has commenced.

Traffic diversions are in place and motorists are urged to avoid the area.
