Many Dubbo public sector workers’ office space is in line for a major overhaul with a stellar $35 million complex slated for the centre of town.
The five-storey building dubbed the Dubbo Workplace Hub was submitted to Dubbo Regional Council last month.
The proposed “modern and efficient” development at 37-39 Carrington Ave would incorporate NSW Government workers from 17 sites across Dubbo.
The application prepared by Cox Architecture includes collaborative office and meeting spaces for internal and public use.
It also features Indigenous repatriation ‘Ready to return’ spaces, an outside “pocket park” described as a “Green Heart”, rooftop plants and plant screening, and it will be serviced by two levels of basement car parking.
“The NSW Government has a vision to provide high quality, collaborative workspace for the people and employees of Dubbo and the Central Western Region,” the development application said.
“This building will be a new purpose-built public building comprising high quality office space, publicly accessible outdoor space, on-site car parking and customer focused service rooms.“
The masterplan highlights the benefits of a proposed “Green Heart” which will be accessible to the building’s workers and the public.
The development will maintain a “green corridor” from the Dubbo Courthouse through to Victoria Park.
“The project should be a catalyst for increased canopy cover to Brisbane and Carrington Avenues,” the masterplan stated.
“A Green Heart will also reduce the Urban Heat Island effect in this part of the CBD.”
If approved, the building is anticipated to be completed in 2024.
The DA is available for public viewing until Wednesday, August 17.
