Police have appealed for residents in the state’s west for assistance after two boys’ bikes were stolen at a McDonald’s eatery at Dubbo.
The two 12-year-old boys rode their bikes to McDonald’s on Wellington Rd about 12.30pm on Monday to have lunch during the school holidays.
One of the boy's parents, Paul Sutton, checked on the boys once they arrived to ensure they were safe.
“It was good because while one was inside ordering the lunch, the other made sure to mind the bikes - they didn’t leave them alone,” Mr Sutton said.
“About an hour later my son walked in the front door (of our home) and said someone stole his bike.”
The Giant Deity pushbike is green and black and the other bicycle is an orange and black trek bike.
Mr Sutton said his son and his friend “were pretty upset” about the situation.
His son described the two older youths approached him and his friend while asking to ride their bikes and pressuring them to vape.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said the two youths were described as between 14 and 15 and of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander appearance.
“The youths were last seen riding north on Sheraton Rd,” the spokeswoman said.
As inquiries continue, anyone with information is urged to call Dubbo police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
