Four people have been arrested following an investigation into drug supply in the state’s central west on Thursday morning.

Orana Mid-Western Police District detectives established Strike Force Summit to investigate the supply of drugs in Dubbo and surrounding areas in September 2022.

Following extensive inquiries, strike force officers – assisted by the dog unit – executed seven search warrants at homes in Dubbo, Narromine, Geurie and Peak Hill from 7am on Thursday morning.

During the search of the homes, police allegedly located approximately $25,000 worth of cash, a firearm, an electronic stun device, ammunition, methylamphetamine, cannabis and drug paraphernalia.

A 37-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were arrested at a home in Macquarie St, Dubbo.

A 38-year-old man was arrested at a home in Boyd Ave, Dubbo, and a 22-year-old woman was arrested at a home in Fitzroy St.

Detective chief inspector Paul Stephens told the media the four people are in the process of being charged with being part of a criminal group, supplying prohibited drugs, dealing with proceeds of crime and property and firearm-related offences.

“It’s been part of an ongoing operation that we’ve had going - it’s been rolling for the past 12 months so it’s good to see some results,” Inspector Stephens said.

He said one more person is expected to be arrested once further inquiries have been conducted.

“They’re all linked to the one group acting together,” he said.

“We wanted to basically stop the impact of this group on the community.”

More to come.
