Dubbo: Five youths arrested aged 10 to 13 with traffic related offences

Five youths have been charged and arrested following a police pursuit in Dubbo.

Five Central West youths, one as young as 10, have been charged following a police pursuit on Sunday morning.

The children, ranging from 10 to 13, have been charged after they allegedly stole a car and were involved in a pursuit.

About 12.20am on Sunday, Orana Mid-Western Police District police allegedly saw a vehicle allegedly travelling above the speed limit on Sheraton Rd, Dubbo.

The vehicle allegedly turned on to Mitchell Highway before continuing to the intersection off Cobra and Gipps streets.

Inquiries revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen from a carpark about 11pm on Saturday.

Police initiated a pursuit on Minore Rd and it allegedly continued through several streets around Dubbo but was stopped because of safety concerns.

A short time later, police successfully deployed road spikes before the car continued, hitting a police vehicle and stopping on Cypress Ave.

A 13-year-old driver and four passengers were arrested at the scene and taken to Dubbo police station.

The driver was charged with take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, a police pursuit and driving without obtaining a licence.

The remaining four passengers were charged with being carried in conveyance without consent of the owner.

They were all refused bail to appear before a children’s court on Sunday and were remanded in custody to reappear during the week.
