Dubbo: A 72-year-old man has been charged for delivering powder

A 72-year-old man has been charged after allegedly delivering packages of powder to central west businesses. Here’s the latest.

Suspicious substance delivered to Dubbo Police Station

A man in his 70s, who allegedly delivered suspicious packages to two Central West businesses, has been granted bail.

Just after 2.30pm on Monday, a member of the public attended Dubbo Police Station to report and hand in a suspicious package, which had been delivered to their place of work.

Emergency services, including NSW Ambulance and Fire and Rescue NSW attended the station, with a HAZMAT incident declared.

The package was inspected and made safe, with police commencing an investigation into the incident.

Police were called to a business on Wingewarra St on Tuesday, after reports a second package had been received by the business.

The package was seized for forensic examination.

Following inquiries, Orana Mid-Western Police District officers executed a search warrant at an address on Boothenba Rd, Dubbo, about 2.30pm the same day where they seized an amount of power.

A 72-year-old man was arrested at the home and taken to Dubbo Police Station.

He was charged with threatening to contaminate goods with intention to cause economic loss and make false statements od good contaminated with an intention to cause economic loss.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court on January 17, 2024.
