Following a 10-month investigation, a western region police officer has been granted bail after being charged with two counts of using a carriage service to solicit child abuse material.
A serving police officer has been charged following a joint investigation by the Australian Federal Police and NSW Police Force’s Professional Standards Command.
In February, both agencies commenced an investigation into an incident involving a serving police officer in the western region.
Following extensive inquiries, a 37-year-old senior constable was arrested on Monday and taken to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged with two counts of using a carriage service to solicit child abuse material.
The male officer was granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Dubbo Local Court on January 17, 2024.
His employment status is currently under review.
