A 14-year-old boy has been charged after allegedly assaulting two police officers in the state’s central west.
About 4pm on Tuesday, Orana Mid-Western Police District officers were patrolling Whylandra St, Dubbo, when they saw a teenager wanted for breach of bail.
Police will allege that during an attempt to arrest the boy, he punched the officers several times.
The teen escaped and fled on foot towards Macquarie River into the nearby bushland.
The senior constable and constable were taken to Dubbo Base Hospital for treatment for facial bruising and have since been released.
Following inquiries, about 10.30am on Wednesday, the boy was arrested at a home and was taken to Dubbo Police Station.
He was charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer in execution of duty causing actual bodily harm and hindering or resisting a police officer in the execution of duty.
He was refused bail to appear at a children’s court on Wednesday.
