Craft Cres, Condobolin: Man and woman charged for alleged large-scale theft

A man and a woman have been charged following a large-scale theft operation including heavy machinery in the state’s west. Here’s the latest.

Two people have been freshly charged following an investigation into the large-scale theft from rural properties throughout the state’s west.

The Rural Crime Prevention Team and Central West Police District established Strike Force Subdivision in October 2023, to investigate the large-scale theft of heavy machinery, plants, prime movers and other equipment across the state.

Four people, including two men and two women, have been previously charged.

Following further inquiries, investigators attended a home in Craft Cres, Condobolin, about 1.40pm on Wednesday, and arrested a man and a woman, who were taken to Parkes Police Station.

The 30-year-old man was charged with entering a building with intention to commit an indictable offence, enter enclosed land without a lawful excuse and stealing a vehicle.

He was also charged with four counts of larceny value, two counts of driving a motor vehicle while disqualified and two counts of destroying or damaging property.

The 30-year-old woman was charged with aggravated break and enter in company to steal.

Two counts of outstanding warrants were also executed for assault and domestic violence-related offences.

Both were refused bail to appear at Orange Local Court on Thursday.
