A Nyngan woman has told a magistrate she thought she was “invincible” when she went on a $900 shoplifting spree and assaulted a Dubbo retail worker who caught her red handed.
In court documents, police said Courtney Marie Mazoudier, 31, had driven from Nyngan to Dubbo with a friend on January 20 when she dropped a ute at Bob Jane T-Marts and walked to a nearby shopping centre.
While there she visited Kmart and walked out without paying for a variety of items which included a shovel, lollipops and a Buzz Lightyear toy.
Mazoudier next entered Coles and stole mangoes, batteries, bubble bath mix, apples, Aerogard and other groceries.
After leaving Coles Mazoudier went to Smokemart and put two novelty games in her trolley without paying.
After about 90 minutes of stealing in the shopping centre, Mazoudier picked up the ute from Bob Jane and drove to Bunnings where she left without paying for gutter mesh.
Police said after Mazoudier made a brief stop at McDonald’s she went to Orana Mall and filled a trolley with more items like Binkill which she later stole from Big W.
One last stop Mazoudier chose to make at Woolworths led to her undoing.
According to police a store manager busted Mazoudier trying to steal cat food, coke and other items.
After being confronted, Mazoudier said “I’ll stomp on your head c***” and hit the store manager’s shoulder.
Mazoudier fled the scene and was later spotted outside Boost Juice by the store manager.
“Here’s that little girl, I’ll jump all over her head,” Mazoudier said when she saw the store manager.
Police later arrested Mazoudier outside The Coffee Club and a search uncovered $904 worth of stolen items.
In Dubbo Local Court Mazoudier pleaded guilty to six counts of shoplifting and one count of common assault.
She said she had a daughter and regretted her actions.
“I’d come out of a nine-year break-up and lost it,” Mazoudier told the court.
“I went downhill big time, I thought I was invincible … I really stuffed up.”
Magistrate Gary Wilson ordered a sentencing assessment report and adjourned Mazoudier’s case to a date in May for sentencing.
