DUBBO
Emergency services were called to an intersection following a two car crash in the state’s central west.
Emergency services attended a call to the intersection of Mitchell Hwy, and Rosedale Rd, Dubbo, about 8am on following reports of a crash involving a Holden Colorado and a Holden Captiva.
The 56-year-old Captiva driver was taken to Dubbo Base Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The male Colorado driver received minor injuries, and passengers - two girls aged nine and 12 - were taken to the same hospital for observations.
Orana Mid-Western Police District officers have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
DUBBO
A man has faced court on Monday after more than $18,000 worth of prohibited drugs were seized in a vehicle stop in the state’s central west on the weekend.
Orana Mid-Western Police District officers stopped a Kia Sorento on Bultje St, Dubbo, around 12.10am on Saturday, to speak with a man.
After speaking with the driver, police searched the vehicle where they located and seized 8.5g of cocaine, 17.2g of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and cash.
The items were seized to undergo forensic examination.
The seized drugs have an estimated street value of more than $18,000.
The man was taken to Dubbo Police Station and charged with two counts of possessing prohibited drugs and two counts of supplying prohibited drugs.
He was given conditional bail to appear at Dubbo Local Court on April 24, 2024.
FORBES
A man will face court today charged with firearm and drug-related offences in the state’s central west.
Central West Police District officers established Strike Force Coradgery to investigate drug supply in Forbes and surrounding areas in August 2023.
Strike force officers executed a search warrant at a home on Bilba St, Garema, about 1.30pm on February 9, 2024.
Officers located and seized eight firearms, ammunition, MDMA, cocaine, buprenorphine, drug paraphernalia, cash and 22 cannabis plants.
A 38-year-old man was arrested and taken to Forbes Police Station and charged with two counts of possessing an unregistered firearm, possessing a firearm with no stamped allotted number, six counts of possessing an unauthorised pistol, not keeping a firearm safe, two counts of acquiring a firearm subject to prohibition order and firearm found at premises subject to prohibition order.
Jesse Menzies was also charged with not keeping a pistol safely, seven counts of possessing prohibited drugs, possessing a tablet press or drug encapsultator, possessing prohibited plants and recklessly deal with proceeds of crime.
Menzies appeared at Dubbo Local Court on February 10, where he was refused bail to appear at Orange Local Court on Monday.
Inquiries are continuing.
BOURKE
A man has died following a light plane crash on private property in the state’s west on the weekend.
Emergency services were called to a farm near Bourke, following reports a plane had crashed, about 7.50am, on February 10.
Central North Police District officers arrived to find a cropdusting aircraft had crashed into a field.
The 47-year-old pilot was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics but he died at the scene.
A crime scene was established and is being forensically examined.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has been notified and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner.
MUDGEE
Orana Mid-Western Police District officers and the Rural Crime Prevention Team are appealing for public assistance following an investigation into two rural break-ins in the state’s central west last year.
Strike Force Uji was established in December 2023 to investigate rural break-ins in the Running Stream and Aarons Pass area.
Police were told a large amount of property, firearms, cash, an Order of Australia Medal and a Hyundai I30 were allegedly stolen. One home was destroyed by fire.
Following inquiries, strike force officers executed two search warrants on a storage facility on Attunga St, Blaxland, about 2pm on February 6.
Officers located and seized a number of items of interest, including identification documents, a stamp collection and numerous household items.
WALGETT
The Rural Crime Prevention Team and Central North Police District officers are appealing to locate approximately 500 Merino Ewes believed to have disappeared from a travelling stock route in the state’s west.
Police claim the sheep disappeared on Mercadool Rd, near Collarendbri, between October 2023, and January 2024.
The majority of the ewes were tagged with ‘The Wilgas’ or ‘NF860340’, while the others were tagged with a mix of mix of ‘NF650340’, ‘NI020884’, ‘NJ090024’ and ‘NF090262’.
All ewes should be marked with blue ‘GF’ branding.
Many of the sheep were lambing at the time they went missing.
