A million-dollar plan to see the upgrade of a primary school in the state’s west has revealed it is expecting to introduce secondary students to the campus.
Burrabadine Christian Community School have submitted a $1.68 million development application for three classrooms, one outdoor learning area and more parking spaces at 101R Bunglegumbie Rd to Dubbo Regional Council this month as part of the first stage of their proposed development.
A planner for the project said the school community is seeking to expand their existing services of primary school education and wanting to expand teachings until Year 10.
“The proposal is considered to have a positive impact on the local environment, and it is in the public interest for the development to proceed, in the enhancement of the locality and to provide for additional educational opportunities in the Dubbo community,” the planner argued.
“The proposed development is providing new general learning rooms which are of
high-quality design and finish which shall enhance the amenity of the area.
“The buildings proposed are of a new design and can be considered aesthetically pleasing for the site and its surrounds.
They offer a positive impact on the Burrabadine community by enhancing its overall quality and connections.”
The learning areas are designed to be consist across the school site using colourbond steel and other architectural elements used to compliment the existing buildings.
To begin the proposed works, the planner said they will be demolishing four sheds, an existing building, trees and other facilities.
“The proposal is considered positive in terms of social and economic impacts in that it shall create employment opportunities during the construction phase and improved conditions for education,” the planner said.
