Bodangora: Plans for $400k Rural Fire Service station near Wellington

A $400K vision to see the development of a new rural fire station in the central west has been revealed. See the plans.

A $400,000 plan for a new fire station in the state’s central west has been revealed.

The Rural Fire Service of NSW (RFS) has lodged plans for the new station at Bodangora to Dubbo Regional Council in order to further support regional emergency services.

The proposed development would be built at a partly vacant lot, shared with Bodangora Aerodrome, on 45 Aerodrome Rd, near Wellington.

A planner for the project says the development was “very important” as it adds security and resilience to the community’s infrastructure.

“It is in the public interest that emergency services are well equipped with supporting infrastructure to fulfil their role,” the planner said.

According to documents, the building would not interfere with existing or future aircraft operations at the facility.

The proposed station would be designed with Colorbond steel material and roofing and feature four carparking spaces and a multipurpose facility for training.

In the long term, an additional road and a new driveway are to be constructed.

The planner said the NSW RFS was undertaking a program of station upgrades across NSW which includes the construction of new facilities.

“The proposal represents an acceptable use within the area and on the site and is considered worthy of planning support,” plans state.

The proposed station is on public exhibition until March 28.
