Plans for a disability rehabilitation centre in the Blueridge Business Park have been lodged before Dubbo Regional Council.
The physio centre, to be called On the Move, is proposed to transform from vacant land to a warehouse-style building, featuring a rehabilitation gym and consultation rooms to provide “allied health care to the disability community”.
The developer stated in a statement of environmental effects the “outdoor exercises and training will occur under the awning on site,” and the equipment used in the warehouse would include hoists, pulleys, weights and cardio equipment.
The development application is seeking to develop 12 carparking spaces, including four accessible parking spaces on the site.
The business is expected to operate from 6am to 10pm, every day with nine employees working on a full-time, part-time and casual basis.
The total project is estimated to cost $880,000.
“The proposal enables a health services facility to be located in this zone, which will encourage employment opportunities during construction of the development and during the ongoing operation of the facility,” the developer stated.
“The proposal will provide facilities and services to the business park and the wider area of Dubbo.”
Properties in the business park include a cafe, gymnasium and a childcare facility.
“It is expected that the development will have a net socio-economic benefit through the generation of both short-term employment and activity during construction as well as ongoing employment once the site is operational,” the developer stated.
The application is on exhibition until June 5.
