A Gilgandra woman has been spared a conviction in court despite being busted leaving a drug house with ice.
In court documents, police said Alex Lee Walker, 25, was a passenger in a grey Mazda which attended a house on Cobborah Rd in Dubbo between 6.05pm and 6.35pm on September 23.
Police had been watching the house because they believed drug deals were taking place inside.
After Ms Walker was spotted going inside the house and leaving after a short period of time, police followed the car she was in.
The car was then stopped by police at the insersection of Hume and Myall streets.
Another woman was driving the car and police said both occupants claimed they had travelled from Gilgandra to Dubbo, in breach of Covid lockdown rules, because they needed to purchase baby formula.
A clear resealable bag was found inside Ms Walker’s jeans and it contained a white crystal substance.
Another bag containing a similar substance was found inside her wallet.
According to police, Ms Walker said “I found that on the ground but I knew it was ice”.
“I’m not sure what I was going to do with it,” she said.
Ms Walker was charged with possessing 1.6 grams of methamphetamine.
In Dubbo Local Court she pleaded guilty to one count of possess prohibited drug.
Citing Ms Walker’s young age and lack of any prior convictions, Magistrate Theresa Hamilton sentenced her to a six-month conditional release order and did not impose any conviction.
