Orange City Council is seeking expressions of interest for construction of a $25 million conservatorium and planetarium.
The facility, to be known as Orange Regional Conservatorium and Planetarium, will be located in the Civic Square North Court off March St, along with the already existing Orange Regional Gallery, museum, library and Civic Theatre.
The approved project has received funding from the Australian Government, NSW Government, and Orange City Council.
Orange Conservatorium and Planetarium Community Committee Chair Councillor Kevin Duffy said he was looking forward to the build of the project.
“After many years of planning, I’m looking forward to seeing this much-needed facility get off the ground,” Cr Duffy said.
The development will include a 250-seat auditorium, 74-seat planetarium auditorium, 40 practice rooms, ensemble rooms and rehearsal spaces, front and back-of-house facilities, and open spaces.
Mr Duffy said the additional facility will “transform” the precinct into a “world-class cultural hub, complementing our highly regarded museum, gallery and library”.
Expressions of interest can be lodged by January 31.
