2024 NAPLAN: Central West NSW’s top performing schools

Two Kindergarten to Year 12 schools topped the rankings for the 2024 NAPLAN results across Central West NSW. See how your school performed.

Central West Leadership Academy and Mendooran Central School are Central West NSW’s top performing NAPLAN schools in 2024.

The ranking comes after an independent analysis of newly-released 2024 NAPLAN results revealed the schools which performed the best in the Year 5 and Year 9 tests.

Mendooran Central School had better results compared to other schools across Central West NSW, scoring an average of 549.2.

Scots All Saints College in White Rock was the second best for the region with an average score of 539.2, while Borenore Public School in Borenore was third best with an average score of 528.4.

The top performing secondary school was Central West Leadership Academy, in Dubbo, where the average result was 605.6.

Kinross Wolaroi School in Orange was the second best for the region with an average score of 602.8, while Scots All Saints College in White Rock made the rankings again with the third best average score of 592.

Mendooran Central School Principal Michelle Winston said the K-12 school’s staff and 90 students were “thrilled” to learn of the achievement.

“We are absolutely thrilled to hear this news and we are incredibly proud of our teachers and amazing students,” Ms Winston said.

In a post shared to Facebook on Wednesday, Central West Leadership Academy praised the efforts of students and staff in another stellar NAPLAN performance for the school.

“We are so proud to be once again be the highest performing high school in our region on NAPLAN!” the post read.

“Thanks to all of our hard working teachers who ensure the basic skills are there so students can move on to critical, creative and philosophical thinking.”

To determine how each school performed in 2024, the scores for all five test subjects for the student cohort (Yr 5 or Yr 9) were combined and averaged.

Special schools, schools with fewer than 20 students enrolled, and schools that did not report any results for NAPLAN subjects were excluded from the analysis.

The figures were independently compiled from the Federal Government’s MySchool website.
