IF YOU’VE been struggling with motivation on DoSomething Day consider this — so far this morning the girls at Kambala School have already helped domestic violence victims and abandoned animals.

For the past four years non profit group Kids Giving Back have collaborated with the school on the Community Action Service at Kambala program.

Year nine students at the Rose Bay school participate in weekly community service projects.

Today, the students sorted through and packed clothing for charity Thread Together which will be distributed to domestic violence victims.

They also handmade rope toys for the inhabitants of the Sydney Dogs and Cats Home.

Kids Giving Back program delivery manager Kirsty Warren said Kambala students were among the first children to volunteer their time when the non profit was first established.

“Kids Giving Back offers hands on, age appropriate, meaningful volunteering opportunities,” Ms Warren said.

“Today is the first of five sessions in the girls’ chosen areas. The programs you are seeing are in animal welfare and domestic violence.

“Two other groups are visiting an aged care facility to spend time with the residents and looking at how they can help the environment.”
