COVID-19 NSW: confirmed cases by postcode

The latest data has revealed which areas are bouncing back from their Covid-19 struggles – and the areas where the battle is just beginning as the virus creeps out across NSW and into the regions. See the map here:

‘Very difficult’ to see Sydney’s COVID-19 cases returning to zero

New data has revealed where Covid is creeping across greater Sydney and NSW as the virus breaks out of its previous hotspots.

A male limo driver in his 60s who contracted the Delta variant while transporting international aircrew members has sparked a Covid-19 cluster that has broken free of Sydney’s east and spread to the suburbs.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced there were 935 new cases of community transmission in the 24 hours to 8pm on Sunday.

Four people aged in their 60s and 80s tragically died with Covid.

Across NSW, 82.2 per cent of the over-16 population has received their first Covid-19 vaccine, and 52.7 per cent are fully vaccinated.

A range of restrictions have now lifted in greater Sydney, with curfews eliminated in local government areas of concern and outdoor gatherings of up to five fully vaccinated people – not including children aged 12 and under – now permitted.

Shopping, exercise and outdoor recreation can now be done 5km from home or anywhere within the LGA.

A person’s single bubble buddy can live anywhere in greater Sydney, including in areas of concern, instead of only within 5km.

However, authorised worker conditions and travel permit requirements remain in place for residents in Bayside, Blacktown, Burwood, Campbelltown, Canterbury Bankstown, Cumberland, Fairfield, Georges River, Liverpool, Parramatta, Penrith and Strathfield.

Public pools will also be able to reopen across NSW provided councils have an approved Covid-safe plan in place.

In promising news, more than 8.92 million vaccine doses have been administered across NSW to date.
