A 35-year-old Killarney Vale woman has appeared at court for the first time after being charged following a series of simultaneous drug raids across the Central Coast.
Sheanna Lillian Strudwick faced Wyong Local Court on Wednesday where she is facing eight counts of allegedly supplying prohibited drugs and taking part in the supply of prohibited drugs.
Her Legal Aid solicitor told the court the Crown prosecutor’s office was considering “electing” in the matter and sought a two-week adjournment.
Most matters in the Local Court are handled by NSW Police prosecutors but cases that are deemed complex or more serious are often run by the NSW Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), otherwise known as the Crown.
Ms Strudwick was one of eight people — five women and three men — arrested and charged by officers attached to Strike Force Treceagle following a series of five raids on March 16.
The raids on properties at Berkeley Vale, Bateau Bay and Magenta were the culmination of a three-month police operation established to investigate the alleged supply of drugs in the Tuggerah Lakes Police District.
Ms Strudwick was arrested and charged with seven counts of supplying a small amount of drugs and one count of taking part in the supply of prohibited drugs.
Following her arrest she was granted police bail to appear at Wyong Local Court on Wednesday, where her bail was continued and she was adjourned to reappear on April 26.
Four other women and three men remain in custody after appearing in court the day after their arrests where they were formally refused bail.
One woman, Sonia Louise Quirk, 38, of Bateau Bay, appeared via video link at Wyong Local Court last Wednesday, April 5, where she pleaded guilty to three counts of supplying a prohibited drug and two counts of knowingly taking part in the supply of drugs.
Quirk also pleaded guilty to intimidating a police officer after she delivered a foul-mouth rant at the custody manager following her arrest on March 16.
She will be sentenced on May 17.
The other six people charged by Strike Force Treceagle officers are due to reappear at court on April 17 and 18.
